A loving husband…
A dedicated Muslim…
It sounds like a textbook or template version of a funeral speech. For this uncle of mine whom I am not close with, I can safely say that those 3 lines truly describe him.
On a personal level, I barely know him but from what I’ve observe and heard, he truly signifies of a true Muslim…even in his dying days. He was challenged by cancer. Even so, on his bed, struggling to even breathe, he did his obligatory prayers.
2 Sunday morning ago, subuh time, I was awoken by a call from my mother. My parents were already at KL since Friday to visit him. My mum told me that my uncle was in nazak condition. My aunt family, my cousin and I headed for KL immediately,
Alhamdulillah, we reach in time for sholat jenazah.
At his burial ground, I met many familiar faces. The ones I’ve not met in years, if not a decade.
Ironically, it takes the death of someone we love to bring everyone else together; not wedding celebrations or happy occasions.
For him, his journey ends here. For the rest of us, it serves as a reminder. A reminder that someday, the people we love will leave us. A reminder that nothing is certain except death.
A reminder to all and myself especially, that everyone, except Allah...will leave our side(=
